Educando and the Secretary of Education of Puebla host Congress in Puebla

In order to guarantee the quality of English language teaching and offer better opportunities for professional development, teachers and school principals participated in the First Educational Congress in Puebla. An initiative jointly promoted by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and Educando to strengthen the relationship between English teachers in Puebla and, through the exchange of experiences, improve the language learning of basic education students.
The Congress also presented results from LISTO, the Educando program focused on public school principals, that offers training courses in leadership, which allow them to enrich school practices for the benefit of students. During the inauguration, Patricia Vázquez del Mercado, Secretary of Public Education, highlighted Governor Tony Gali’s interest in working for education, including strengthening second language instruction in state schools.
“We will continue making every effort to have quality content and continuity actions, and thus be able to achieve the goals that the New Educational Model poses”, he said.
Dolores González, Director of LISTO, thanked the State Government and recognized the serious, determined and committed work she does for education. The director of IAPE, Jim Citrón, said that the opportunity to teach a second language is a valuable gift, opening doors of communication and understanding between cultures. Finally, the Undersecretary of Compulsory Education, Lucero Nava Bolaños, called on the participants to take advantage of this experience, and to locate the challenges and ideas that contribute to the improvement of schools.
